About the articles

2005 Edition, 6x9, 184 pages

the articles...

...are not intended to be "THE" articles, as in the definitive word in profit center
management.  Not only are
the articles not intended to be the beginning and the end,
they are specifically intended to be
neither the beginning nor the end.  the articles
are meant to be the middle.  The beginning means being the right person for the job,
loving where you work, and having an undying passion to succeed.  The end means
not spending all the money so there will be some left for the bottom line.

Then there is the middle, which
the articles explores.  The title is what it is because
these articles were written separately and never intended to congregate in one place
at the same time.  The middle that
the articles deals with includes topics such as:

  • what part of the market should you attack
  • how many areas should you attack at once (focus)
  • which customers will make you the most money and which will cost you
    money
  • how to get those customers to give you their business
  • how to best allocate resources to profitably retain the right customers
  • how to set your profit center up to gain share profitably

In short, if you have the will to win,
the articles will help you set the playing field so
that you have at worst a fair fight, and at best, an unfair advantage.
