About the Book:
The Final Battle
2006 Edition: Perfect Bound; 240 pages; 5.5 x 8.5 inches
ISBN: 1-933912-04-9 $14.95
The Final Battle is a love story set in the middle of a raging war between the Confederate States of America and The United States of America. It is the story of John Tucker, a Southern plantation owner, and three women who love him. They are thrust into a violent conflict, with an enemy hell bent not only on destroying the Confederate Army, but also on murdering, raping, and pillaging the loyal and determined citizens of the South. Unfortunately, historians are usually heavily influenced by the victor's point of view, so most of the modern literature portraying the war presents an unbalanced picture. This book looks at the conflict through the eyes of a Southern plantation owner who loses everything in an ordeal fought between unequal brothers. It is a poignant story of love, of fighting for one's homeland, of struggling against a ruthless foe, of courage, of despair, and of renewal in the face of defeat. It tells of John Tucker's love for his land and his way of life. However, The Final Battle is not fought between opposing armies, but rather is a battle for the love of John Tucker.
"I cannot begin to tell you how long it has been since I read such a great love story. I think it was written in such a way that every southern girl and or boy would enjoy reading, and maybe even fall in love themself. In some parts of the book it seems as though I was glad, mad, and sad all at the same time. This is why it kept my attention and I did not want to put the book down. I honestly and truefully fell in love with John Tucker. He was just 'the' character that every reader falls in love with. It would be great if someone would take it upon themself to make a movie from it. I would go out and see it today. Again, the book was just very good reading." Shelia Rone
