The Ideas into Books: Westview Contract
Unlike a lot of on-line publishers, Westview is proud of its author-friendly contract. Written by three authors, it is designed to appeal to an author's needs. Westview authors retain all rights to their works, giving Westview a limited license to prepare, publish, and publicize their works at the author's discretion. Occasionally, our authors are picked up by traditional publishers. Since our authors own all rights to the work that has been done, they are entitled to receive their formatted files before they go. In preparing these files, the ISBN and bar code (which are assigned to publishers and editions of a work) are redacted before the files are copied onto a disk or flash dirve, at the author's discretion. All the new publisher/printer has to do is insert their own name and ISBN, and they are ready to go. We ask for 30 days notice to update our website and prepare the files.
